One day, the boys decided to form a secret club, called the 'Ducky' Club. When asked how it was named, the boy responsible said that it was the only thing he could think of at the time. 'At the time we were a bit crazy - we'd had a lot of sugar and we were just speaking about random stuff.' The boys met beside the P and F Oval, and 'did little jobs', like digging holes and removing rocks from the hill behind the garden. The hill supports the slope leading from the road above to the oval below, and when the teachers discovered large holes appearing in the side of the hill they banned the activity.

The main activity of the club was collecting rocks. One of the rocks they found was a large piece of quartz, shaped like a heart, so they named it 'The Crystal Heart'. Another big rock they dug out was shaped like a cross, so it was regarded as a special rock and they named it 'The Amulet'. It became the symbol of their club. It is still lying somewhere among the vegetation near the fence at the top of the hill, where someone else threw it.

One boy told me 'The Ducky Club' was banned, and another said it was banned inside school hours, but that they don't do that anymore.
