Miscellaneous Physical Play Down at the Coffee Shop

Language Play, Physical Play and Skipping Game

Down at the Coffee Shop is a skipping game/rhyme. Two players each hold an end of a skipping rope while other players skip, taking it in turns.

At School 14

Players: 4
Girls 3 and Boys 1
Age: 8-9
Props: Short Skipping rope with plastic handles

The rhyme goes:

Down at the coffee Shop,
Who will you meet?
A, B, C, D …

and so on until the skipper fouls. The letter on which they foul - they must say someone's name starting with that letter.

The principal at this school says that Skipping becomes popular around 'Jump Rope for Heart' time - but isn't particularly popular at other times of year.
